Lot Essay

This type of chest was a typical form of storage chest made in Cornwall during the 19th century. Expertly simulated to represent a variety of hardwoods, these regional chests were found in many cottage and farmhouse homes.
Characteristic of many pieces of Cornish furniture are the rounded edges to the front of the side planks.
