Lot Essay

We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the RKD for noting that the present picture is a contemporary copy of Ambrosius Bosschaert's signed picture of 1617 (sold in these Rooms, 11 December 1987, lot 40). The present picture was also attributed to Peter Cornelisz. van der Voort (1599-1624) by Dr. Walther Bernt, who noted a CVV monogram, and dated the work to 1620 (certificate dated 14 August 1971).
