the case with arched pediment surmounted by a figure of Chronos holding a serpent with its tail clasped in its jaws, with phoenix resting on palm fronds mounts to front and reverse, urn finials to the corners, the rectangular case with scrolling foliate spandrels around the dial, classical female mounts to the sides, on stepped rectagular base with milled border mount, chains suspended between short pillars below, with guilloche and flowerhead frieze, on claw and ball feet, the back door pierced with an incised heart and leaf design against silk mesh, the white enamel Arabic dial with steel hands, with calendar ring enumerating odd days to the centre (some chipping near 9 and around winding holes), the triple going barrel movement with quarter strike on one gong and hour strike on another, with silk suspension, Viennese,first half 19th century -- 10¼in.(26cm.) high
