A STAFFORDSHIRE 'PRATT WARE' JUG

Details
A STAFFORDSHIRE 'PRATT WARE' JUG
with applied cricketing figures of Clarke, Pilch and Box, in brown beaver hats and yellow shirts (minor chip to Pilch figure), 7in. (17.8cm.) high, impressed "Leeds Pottery" on base.

Pugh F445 (plate 3) notes that about twenty-four of these jugs were originally made "and distributed to cricketers about 1840". The present example is evidently of later date but differs from the reproduction cited in Anthony Baer's collection in so far as "Wm Clark" has not been changed to "W. Clark".
Special notice
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
