Please note that Professor Lino Moretti has suggested that this lot is by Nicola Grassi (Formea 1682-c. 1750 Venice). The present composition is comparable to the Saint Nicholas of Bari in the altarpiece at Chiusaforte (No. 46 of the catalogue of the exhibition of Nicola Grassi, Tolmezzo, 1982).
