Lot Essay

Henry Blundell also acquired in 1777 a set of four small landscapes on panel by Labruzzi, one of them dated in that year, which had similarly been ordered originally by the Duke of Gloucester (Ince Catalogue, 1803, pp. 247-8, nos. CXXX, CXXXI, CXXXIV, and CXXXV), and presumably also the larger landscape, similarly dated 1777, reproduced in Cera, op. cit., pl. 458.
