The Animal Medical Center (AMC), a not-for-profit comprehensive veterinary hospital, was originally founded in 1910 as the New York Women's League for Animals, for the purpose of providing veterinary care for all animals in need. Approximately 90 veterinarians, a third of whom are board-certified specialists, treat over 50,000 patient cases each year. The hospital is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to treat ill and injured companion animals in need of veterinary care.
