MAP OF CHINA

DA QING TIAN ZIA GING DU GE SHENGSU ZHON ZIA TING DI LI QUANTU [The complete geographical map of the Great Qing Dynasty].

Woodcut map of China in four hanging scrolls on rice paper, [China: Qing Dynasty, c.1850], each map section 285 x 1050. Title set in a banner across the upper margin, the Great Wall of China extending along upper part of the map, major rivers, provinces and prefectures marked, various mountain symbols, each section backed on paper with blue silk borders, wooden rollers. (Some light browning to map sections, minor restoration to blue silked borders, some creasing, edges slightly worn.)

An attractive four scrolled woodcut map of China based on the traditional stylised form of the country with seas to east and south and the Great Wall to the North, the great rivers (the Yellow and the Yangtze) dividing the land. It shows detailed administrative areas and statistical records, presumably for administrative use. (4)
