Hong Kong, London & Paris: printed and published at the China Magazine Office [etc.], 1868. 1 volume (?only), 8° (243 x 160mm). Half-title with decorative surround, title in red and black. Mounted hand-coloured photographic frontispiece, 23 mounted photographs (3 by Thomson). (Photographs faded, some mounts spotted, some browning to text.) Contemporary diced half calf, spine gilt in five compartments with raised bands, brown morocco labels in the second and third compartments, the others with simple repeat decoration in gilt (rebacked with original spine laid down, scuffed).
A RARE PERIODICAL, combining a mixture of literature, poetry with reports of current events and photographs. The images are mainly topographical (15 plates) or ethnographical (6 plates). Two of the photographs by Thomson are of Cambodian ruins.
