UNDERGLAZE BLUE QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-95)
With broad bell-shaped sides, the interior painted and enamelled in the centre with a swirling motif surrounded by alternating peaches and demi-florets within a lobed panel, below the Eight Daoist Treasures on the border, each tied by a ribbon and embellished with flower sprays, the exterior with floral sprays borne on leafy tendrils above a band of ruyi lappets around the base
8 in. (20.4 cm.) diam.

Qianlong dishes of this pattern are in the Tokyo National Museum, illustrated in the Catalogue of Tokyo National Museum: Chinese Ceramics, vol. 2, Tokyo, 1990, pl. 593; in the Umezawa Kinenkan Museum, Tokyo, illustrated in Toji Takei, vol. 46, Tokyo, 1973, pl. 28; a single dish of this shape and design was included in the exhibition Ch'ing Polychrome Porcelain, The Oriental Ceramic Society of Hong Kong, 1977, and illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 83; and another was included in the exhibition, Qing Imperial Porcelain, Nanjing Museum and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1995, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 106.
