A Warabe Gusoku [Armour]
Edo Period (19th Century)
The six-plate black lacquered iron suji kabuto [ridged bowl] mounted with a tehen kanamono and six shinodare in gilded copper and shakudo, mayedate [fore crest] of gilded leather and wood kuwagata, with sun disc, red lacquered on the reverse, the back plate fitted with a kasa-jirushi no kan and a horo tsuke-no-kan, the five lame neck guard of kiritsuke ko-zane, the fukigayeshi with a gold lacquered crest of a hanabishi in shippo pattern, the black lacquered iron menpo with hair moustache, the ni mai do black lacquered with a dragon lacquered in black on a gold ground, on the reverse a gatari and machiuke to hold a sashimono, kusazuri of black lacquered iron itamono construction, ko sode of kiritsuke kozane with same family crests, kote largely of mail with one shino and scattered ikada, russet iron kawara haidate, possibly associated, and a pair of shino suneate, laced in bands of green, white and mauve mainly in kebiki style, with a gusoku bitsu
