Unsigned, Muromachi Period (15th-16th Century)
The blade hirazukuri, mitsumune, itame hada with ji-nie, sugu ko-midare hamon of nie with some sunagashi, ko-maru boshi with long kaeri, a ken and bonji horimono on the omote, a shin no kurikara in a groove on the ura, in its black lacquer saya finely decorated with a ho-o bird in togidashi-e, shakudo nanako mounts ensuite comprising fuchi-kashira, kogai, kozuka, kurikata, uragawara and kojiri all inlaid in iroe takazogan with ho-o birds and foliage, large gilt shibuichi menuki formed as ho-o, the tsuka fully bound over shibuichi plates chiselled with a rinzu pattern, the tsuka has not been removed, 19th century
