Edo period (19th century), signed Kanko Bunryusai utsusu
The slender inro lacquered in gold and silver takamaki-e and gold, silver, red and black hiramaki-e and gold and silver togidashi with highlights of mura-nashiji, kirigane and gold foil all against a roiro-nuri ground with a flying crane and a bushy-tailed tortoise on a rocky island with pine, plum, bamboo and nandina berries, interiors nashiji; fitted with a coral bead ojime and a stag-antler netsuke of a man crushing grains with a foot-powered mortar
