A Large Blue and White Porcelain Jar
Choson period (18th-19th century)
Of ovoid form with bulbous shoulders below the tall, upright neck, the body decorated in underglaze blue with a frieze of two pairs of birds perched on a gnarled branch of budding and blossoming plum on one side and on branches of bamboo on the other side, all between double-lines and a cloud collar at the base of the neck, the neck additionally encircled by two blue lines and the perimeter above the inward-slanted foot painted in blue with a single line, the vessel applied with a glossy transparent glaze save the foot rim
