Set in an associated oval giltwood frame, the reverse inscribed 'The Children of Paul & Marie Feodovovya (Son of Catherine the Great), Alexander, Constantine, Alexandra, Helene, Marie, Catherine'. Murdoch Collection, Sotheby's May 5. 1903", and with printed auction description "The Royal Family of Russia, portraits of six children in profile"

Lot Essay

Paul Fyodorovna, was the son of Catherine the Great of Russia and reigned briefly from 1796-1801. He married Sophie Marie Dorothea of Wurttemberg in 1776 and had ten children.
