'46. Captain Scott writing in his Diary. A portrait of the leader in the hut at Cape Evans. It was made three weeks before he left for the Great Ice Barrier, on the final stage of the search for the Pole. It shows the entire space retained by Scott in the hut' (entry in the Fine Art Society exhibition catalogue).
