The rectangular outscrolling back with tablet toprail carved in relief with swans and cornucopiae, above a pierced anthemion shaped vertical splat, the padded seat covered in grey floral material, on stop fluted tapering turned legs

Lot Essay

A virtually identical chair is in the collection of the Centraal Museum Utrecht; inventory number C1904 427xxx, photonumber 627. The carved pattern of the cornucopiae is similar to the carvings seen on cornices of Northern Dutch or Drentse cabinets.
