A RARE GREEN-GLAZED INCISED DISH
JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER INCISED MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566)
With shallow rounded sides rising from a tapered foot to the everted rim, the interior and exterior incised with cranes in flight amidst clouds, some of the clouds incorporating a ruyi motif, covered inside and out and on the base with a bright leaf-green glaze, the bottom of the foot left unglazed
11 in. (27.8 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A very similar dish with Jiajing mark is illustrated in Porcelain from the Tianjin Municipal Museum, Beijing and Hong Kong, 1993, pls. 114 and 115.
