Details
Grange Hermitage--Vintage 1964
South Australia. Penfolds
Badly corroded capsules. Bin-soiled and damaged labels. Levels: one base of neck and one top-shoulder
Always considered a good rather than a great Grange. However, won a trophy, 4 gold and 3 other medals in 1968 and 1969.
Tasting note: brick red. Developed, earthy prune/cedar aromas. Earthy prune flavours with sinewy tannins but beginning to dry out. A.C.
Quite leathery with some mushroomy notes. Becoming lean and austere. R.O.P.
2 bottles per lot
