Anjou, Moulin Touchais--Vintage 1947
Levels: one 3.5cm and one 4.5cm
"First tasted in 1982: a Beerenauslese-like nose, lovely flavour, crisp finish. Most recently, the first of a trio of '47s, two bottles of each just to make sure, at one of Stephen Kaplan's wine dinners. Slight bottle variation, both with an attractive, rich, yellow-gold colour; one with a whiff of gravy, the other of linoleum; both medium-sweet, one on the hefty side with a flavour of barley sugar and caramel, the other more assertive. Last tasted in Chicago, April 1997 ** Intriguing but past their best." MB, Vintage Wine
