Levels: two bottom neck and six very top shoulder
"At one year old, advanced puppy fat, amazingly full, fleshy, rich, complete. Developing a spicy bouquet by the mid-1980s. As a nine-year-old adolescent, playing hard to get yet teasing. On its tenth birthday, having decanted it four hours before taking it to the Penning-Roswells', it was really showing off unashamedly. Opulent but blunt. A splendid pairing with the Ch Cheval Blanc at my Klassische Weindegustation in Zurich, surprisingly less deep, less intense; with mulberry-ripe richness; fleshier, rounded, powerful finish but lacking the subtlety and finesse of the Cheval Blanc. Most recently, one of a really terriffic line-up of over 50 top wines at Christie's pre-sale tasting in New York. Sweet. Delicious. Last tasted Dec 1997 ****" MB, Vintage Wine
