A 4-page autograph letter, signed, from 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, 9th February 1877, to Sir Charles Adderley, discussing the submission to the Queen for the election of one Mr. Miller to the post of Railway Commissioner: "Although it appears that Mr. Chichester Fortescue in 1873 made the subscription to the Queen, a proceeding, in my opinion, most irregular, I cannot suppose that he did so without the knowledge and concurrence of the then Prime Minister ..." (one side slightly faded, creased on fold, some browning in the central fold), in double-sided frame.
