Choix de Vues de l'Inde... Select Views in India, drawn on the spot, in the years 1780, 1781, 1782 and 1783. London: printed for the author, and sold by J.Edwards, [1785-1788].
Large 2° (553 x 410mm). Letterpress title and dedication leaf in French and English, contents leaf in English, 41 leaves of parallel text in Fench and English. 48 aquatint plates, printed in bistre, by and after Hodges, folding engraved hand-coloured map by John Cary. (Plate 36 with short neatly repaired tear to upper margin just affecting image area, plate 45 with expertly repaired rust hole in image area, the 4th and 10th text leaves shaved with slight loss, some ight spotting or browning.) Modern brown half morocco gilt, spine in seven compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second and third the other compartments with repeat decoration in gilt, t.e.g., slipcase.
