GEORGE BERNARD SHAW (1856-1950); EDITH EVANS (1888-1976)
A one-page typed letter of 30 lines, signed with initials, from 10 Adelphi Terrace W.C.2., 26th October 1924, to Edith Evans, discussing theatrical matters, and in particular his play Captain Brassbound's Conversion: "As to your half-witted manager, tell him that, being myself wholewitted, I should object most strenuously to crumpling up Brassbound ... Lady Cicely is not your part: I'd rather have Mary Moore ... Nature has enlisted you in the heavy brigade; and though you carry your weight beautifully there would be nothing remarkable in Brassbound succumbing to your terrible charm ... False youth is a trying thing on the stage; but false age is the very devil."
