Lot Essay

Geoffroy is mainly known for his paintings of children. He was a student of Levasseur and debuted at the Salon in 1874. He was made Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur and won a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900. The Louvre has one of his works as have many other notable galleries.
