After a model by Adam Weisweiler, By Escalier de Cristal, Paris, Third quarter 19th Century
The rectangular top with hinged glazed lid, above panelled sides inset to the front and back with a plaque painted with a military trophy, above fluted baluster supports with Ionic capitals, the middle tier with panelled sides and lift-off glazed cover, above further spirally-fluted supports, the lower tier with shaped front and pierced three-quarter gallery, on tapering feet, the underside with marque au feu ESCALIER DE CRISTAL/PARIS
30¾ in. (78.2 cm.) high; 29 in. (73.7 cm.) wide; 15½ in. (39.2 cm.) deep
