Details
Château Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1970
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Lot 19 levels: two very top, four top, three upper and three upper/mid shoulder. Lot 20 levels: six top and six upper/top shoulder; signs of old seepage
Both lots in original wooden cases
Good color; gradation: brick red core to orange like rim. Slight old barn yard aromas that blew off thankfully, playfully shy fruit, minerals, stone fruit and flint. As this half-bottle opened up mature flavors of forest floor appear. Dry and slightly fading finish leaving the alcohol bare. Very fine tannins, leather, spice and tobacco on the finish. From a nearly exclusive half-bottle collection in San Francisco. This bottle originally purchased from Christie's Château Mouton Rothschild sale June 1975. Tasted September 2003. ST
