CLOS DE VOUGEOT, PAUL BOUCHARD 1952: This is an old friend, born the same year as Lorr (Lee Kramer's son). It came in 25oz bottles and was probably vinified when Burgundians were proud of their product. Herb had bought this very same case from Pearson's and returned it because of some inadequacy. Everything about this wine was pure perfection. The bouquet was very fruity, plums, cassis with a suspicion of rose petals at the end. The attack on the tongue was all that the nose promised. The balance indicated that the wine had a long life ahead with further improvement in adulthood. I don't see how it could get any better. The finish was sweet fruit upon sweet fruit with enough backbone to keep it there for ever. One hell of a bottle of wine.
