A Burmese, Shan style, marble figure of Buddha Sakyamuni
18th century
Seated in vajrasana on a lotus base which front is carved with Buddha cutting his hair, his right hand in bhumisparshamudra, the left resting on his lap, wearing samghati, his face with serene expression, arched eyebrows set above eyes, aquiline nose, smiling lips, elongated earlobes, gilt and black lacquered curled hairdress and usnisha, the latter with lotus bud, traces of red lacquer
