A Thai, Ayutthaya style, gilt and black lacquered wood figure of Buddha Sakyamuni
circa 19th century
Buddha Sakyamuni is carved in seated posture, both hands resting on his upper legs, wearing diaphanous cloak, his face with meditative expression, arched eyebrows above downcast eyes, aquiline nose, smiling lips, elongated earlobes, curled hairdress and usnisha, the latter with separate carved flame
