AN EARLY LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED BOIS SATINE, AMARANTH AND PARQUETRY BIBLIOTHEQUE BASSE

Inlaid overall with lozenge parquetry, the rounded rectangular top above two pairs of glazed arched doors with feather-banding and scallop-shell acanthus sprays to the angles, divided by brass-fluted uprights and husk-trails and enclosing three shelves to each side lined with floral damask, the rounded angles headed by laurel-swags above flutes, on a rounded, moulded, plinth base, the mounts apparently 18th century but with some filled holes surrounding some mounts indicating a possible differing original mounting, previously probably with a brass molding to edge, previously with grill-inset to the doors and now with consequential alterations to interiors of doors, the plinth probably replaced
