CIRCA 1810, THE DIAL SIGNED 'RAVRIO' AND 'MESNIL'
Depicting Leda and the swan, Leda, standing, has encircled the swan's neck with a floral garland, the swan standing on a rectangular case decorated with elements of water, on a further marble and ormolu base and pad feet, the dial signed 'Ravrio Bronzier à Paris' and 'Mesnil Hr.'

Lot Essay

Antoine André Ravrio (d. 1814), maître fondeur in 1777, was among the most celebrated of the fournisseurs officiels to Emperor Napoleon. In 1814 Louis-Stanislas Lenoir-Ravrio (d. 1846) succeeded to the family bronze-making business, and at the Musée Industriel exhibition of 1819 it was commended as a 'manufacture: d'un excellent goût'
