The Dolman Doll
an early English poured wax baby doll with inset pale blue eyes, hard stuffed linen body with rigid legs and wax arms, wearing original tucked robe with drawn threadwork and embroidery on the bodice and sleeves, two petticoats and the remains of wig base, early 19th century --10¼in. (26cm.) high; and another with bead eyes, curly short wool 'hair', wax arms and interesting original clothes of laced bodice, shift, long lawn petticoat, bonnet with lace edge and drawn threadwork, fine linen robe with deeply tucked bodice with front lacing decoration and long pink silk sash holding a bone teething ring, early 19th century --9½in. (24cm.) high (2)
Provenance
This lot includes a box lid and note to say the first doll belonged to 'Aunt Caroline's Grandmother Dolman'.
