Lot Essay

MacLauchlan Milne studied at Edinburgh College of Art. He frequently worked in the South of France with his French wife, benefitting from a stipend paid by Keillers, the Dundee marmalade manufacturers. Often staying at Cassis at the same time as Cadell and Peploe, his work reflects the influence of the Colourists, showing a love of light and brightness of palette.
