A .44 CALIBRE COLT SECOND MODEL DRAGOON PERCUSSION REVOLVER, MARTIALLY MARKED
No. 9038 for 1850
Of standard early production specifications including V-shaped mainspring and the hammer with no provision for roller, the cylinder with 'U.S.M.R.' marking and cavalry/indian scene remaining clearly defined (patches of light wear), the frame stamped 'Colt's Patent U.S.' fitted with vertical latch loading-lever, walnut grips with inspector's stamps 'WAT' and 'JH' (neatly repaired on both sides at the joint with the frame), the steel parts naturally faded to a uniform light patina, and the serial numbers comprehensively matching (the barrel-wedge numbered 9127)
