The half-lenght biscuit bust with a lace collar, after an engraving by J. Houbraken after A. Schouman, on fluted pedestal column enhanced in green and outlined in gilt (the head restored)

Special Notice

Christie's charge a premium to the buyer on the final bid price of each lot sold at the following rates: 23.8% of the final bid price of each lot sold up to and including €150,000 and 14.28% of any amount in excess of €150,000. Buyers' premium is calculated on the basis of each lot individually.

Johan van Oldenbarneveld (1547-1619), one of the leading figures of the Dutch Golden Age was the Raadspensionaris of Holland, the leader of the Regents' party, and was arrested in 1618, after which he was tried for treason and executed in 1619.
