An Ilkhanid pottery bowl
14TH CENTURY, IRAN
Rising from the short foot through conical sides angling up to vertical band below the T-section rim, fritware with white slip, painted in blue, turquoise and black under the glaze, the interior with radial bands of blue and turquoise, the interstices with alternating blue lattice design and stylised fleshy white palmettes on black, the exterior with frieze of alternating blue paired and black motifs issuing alternating blue and black lines towards the foot (areas of iridescence to the exterior)
