Lot Essay

Gallet & Cie. SA of La Chaux de Fonds, New York and Les Brenets was founded in 1826 by Julien Gallet. He later passed it on to his two sons, one of whom was Leon L. Gallet (1832-1899) who renamed the firm "Leon Gallet".

Already in 1864 Leon and his brother had established a branch in New York in partnership with Jules Racine, New York. In 1979 the firm was listed as Gallet Guinand and Racine was still importing their watches into the US.
