Lot Essay

Breguet's straight-line or linear perpetual calendar movement was patented in 1997 and permits for the first time the display of all perpetual calendar indications on a single line, as well as an instantaneous year jump.

In the past this feature required a rather bulky movement whereas this patented mechanism allows all perpetual calendar indications on the dial to be set in one straight line while using a slim movement. It also enables the leap year indication to jump instantly, eliminating the legibility problems usually caused by the constant creep of its hand.
