Lot Essay

Thorne Waite was a painter of landscapes and country scenes, mainly in watercolour. He was influenced by artists such as Anthony Vandyke Copley Fielding and Peter de Wint. He painted in a fresh and breezy style and was particularly fond of painting corn and hayfields.
