(Title on guard, faint dampstain at upper edges, without final blank.) 18th-century English tree calf, red leather spine label (spine ends repaired, front hinge cracked).
FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. Only the first two books of Herodotus appeared in English in the 16th century; the full text did not appear until 1709. STC 13224.
