Title set in central strapwork and swag cartouche at top, classical texts by Cicero and Seneca set in decorative medallions at each corner and central strapwork and swag cartouche at bottom. (Light discolouration.) Window mount.
This, Ortelius's revised world map on an oval projection, 'has been updated in two major respects: South America now assumes the more correct shape ... and the Soloman Isles are marked for the first time.' Shirley 158; Wagner 147.
