Lot Essay

One of an album of views drawn by van Goyen on a journey through south-eastern Holland and north-western Germany in 1650-1. Thirty drawings from the album were bought from de Wild by Carel Goldschmidt, sold from the collection at Christie's, New York, 12 January 1995, lots 220-249.
