Lot Essay

This suite of seat furniture is representative of the 'Fernandino' style. While similar types of side chairs are conserved in various Royal Spanish houses, as Palacio de la Granja, an almost identical side chair with the same pierced inverted foliate heart motif on top of the legs is to be found in the music room of the Palacio de Aranjuez. See L. Feduchi Colecciones Reales de Espana - El Mueble, Madrid, 1965, p. 251, fig. 152.
