Château Pétrus--Vintage 1982
Pomerol, cru exceptionnel
Excellent appearance. Levels into neck
Tasting note: The most celebrated wine of Pomerol, Petrus has, during the last two decades, become one of Bordeaux's most renowned expensive red wines. Situated on a buttonhole of clay in the middle of Pomerol's plateau, the tiny 28.4-acre vineyard renders wine that are treated as well as carefully as any wines produced on earth. After proprietor Christian Moueix makes his selection, most vintages of Petrus turn out to be 100 pure Merlot. The 1982 Petrus, while never quite living up to my predictions from cask (I thought it to be a perfect wine), is still a colossal Petrus, exhibiting a back-ward, sweet, expansive nose of ripe fruit, Provencal herbs, chocolate, and spice. Full bodied, tannic, and super-concentrated, this wine requires another 5-8 years of cellaring. It should keep for 25-30+ years. Note 98. Robert Parker, The Wine Buyer's Guide
