A FINE PAIR OF INLAID IRON ABUMI [STIRRUPS]
SIGNED SHIGEHISA, EDO PERIOD (17TH CENTURY)
The body of the stirrups inlaid in brass and silver with different stylised mon, which continue around the sides and back, the base inlaid with grasses in brass and across each is engraved the signature Owari Chita ju Shigehisa, the buckle struts inlaid on the sides with kiku of various sizes and the front of the strut and the buckle itself with waves, the interior red lacquer, some old wear and lacquer cracked
