Carnations and pinks

Clausen, who liked to paint still-life as a diversion from larger set-pieces, submitted two paintings to the Royal Academy in 1930, Flowers on a table, and Carnations, nos. 531 and 551. The present picture might conceivably be identified as either of these works.
