'...Meudon - it's my favourite place near Paris, particularly in spring. All the fruit trees are in blossom in this quiet haven with its old houses, a provincial drowsiness, the old church - even the cemetery is cheerful - the lilac, greenery, sunshine, sugary garlands...'
