Lot Essay

It is interesting to note that the Birtschansky family was directly related to Isaak Levitan, through his sisters Theresa and Emma. In the late 1940s the same Birtschansky family donated works by Levitan to the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow and The Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
