A Soviet porcelain propaganda plate
by the State Porcelain Factory, with blue overglaze mark of hammer, sickle and cog, dated 1919
Circular, Cubist design with Hammer and Sickle, after a design by Sergei Chekhonin, the emblems depicted around the centre in ciselé gilding with red and black handles and a black section of a cog, within green and purple bands, the border with black, red, blue and yellow shapes, the rim with bands of green with gilt bewteen, marked under base
9 5/8 in. (24.4 cm.) diam.
